Dr. Xin Wang Promoted to Principal Lecturer

The department of information Science is delighted to announce the promotion of Dr. Xin Wang.

Dr. Xin Wang joined UNT during the summer of 2013. Through the past years she mainly taught graduate-level courses. Some of which were INFO 5000 (Information & Knowledge Professions), INFO 5735 (Usability & User Experience Assessment), and INFO 5745 (Information Architecture). She has taught over 1,000 graduate students with different teaching modalities such as in-person, online, and hybrid classes. 

Dr. Wang’s research expertise lies in areas such as User Experience Metrics, Information Architecture, and Health Informatics. Dr. Wang had worked at a usability lab known as the Information Experience Laboratory at the University of Missouri for around six years as a senior user experience researcher. During those years, she led other team members to provide user experience research and usability evaluation services for many high-profile organizational clients. Dr. Wang published first-author journal articles in core journals in the field of Information Science. Such journals included the Journal of American Society for Information Science and Technology (JASIST), Scientific Reports, The Electronic Library, and the International Journal of Multimedia Data Engineering and Management. Dr. Wang also reported various research results through over 20 conference papers and posters. Dr. Wang was awarded four internal grant awards, the China Venture Fund, The UNT-CLEAR Office NextGen Grant, Netdragon Research Grant, and the Open-Text Book Project.  With regard to her professional services, Dr. Wang served as the Juror for the Watson Davis Award and the Juror for the ProQuest Dissertation Award for the Association for Information Science &Technology (ASIS&T). She also served as a manuscript reviewer for multiple journals such as the Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology (JASIST)The Electronic Library, the Journal of Information and Knowledge Management, the Journal of Information Discovery & Delivery etc. In 2021, Dr. Wang was appointed to be the program director of the BS-IS Program and to develop undergraduate program-related tasks.
