IS alumnus, John Crockett receives Nevada Library Association's Librarian of the Year Award

Congratulations to IS alumnus, John Crockett who was award the 2018 Librarian of the Year by the Nevada Library Association!  John graduated from UNT in August 2013 with an MLS, and was a student in the Nevada/Utah Cohort. His background is in youth services, where he excels in developing and delivering technology programming for kids.

He has held a number of positions with the Nevada Library Association, including Finance Chair and Mountain Plains Library Association (MPLA) Representative. In 2013, he served as the association’s President, where he did an excellent job in bringing national library leaders to the NLA’s annual conference. Just last year, he served as Conference Chair for the joint NLA/MPLA conference held in South Lake Tahoe. In addition to his service in the NLA, John has been instrumental in promoting and advocating for the libraries at the state and national levels by joining the Nevada delegation.

Crockett is currently the manager of the Incline Village Library near Reno, Nevada. Prior to this role, he served as the Manager for the Sierra View Library.
